When it comes to choosing a tablet style computer, you currently have three main options to choose from – Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab and the Apple iPad. There are other promising alternatives as well like the HTC Flyer, HP TouchPad or BlackBerry Playbook but none of them are available in the market yet.
Both Motorola Xoom and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab are running on Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) - the table edition of Google Android - while Apple iPad is powered by iOS, the same mobile OS that is found on the iPhone.
The Galaxy tab is more portable since it is light and has a small screen, the iPad has better multimedia capabilities and the XOOM, though heavy, is great for web browsing. There are thousands of apps in the iTunes store that are compatible with the iPad while only a few dozen have been written specifically for Honeycomb tablets.
So the big question - if you are to buy a tablet today, which one should you go for? The editors at PC World tested Apple’s iPad alongside Motorola XOOM and the Galaxy Tab and here’s what they have to recommend:
